Objects:
(a) The payment of pensions to poor persons of good character who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.
(b) Relief in Need.
Origin: Under the terms of a Charity Commission Scheme of 18th February 1903 six charities were consolidated under the title of the Consolidated Pension Charity, with the primary object of providing pensions to poor persons. A further Scheme dated 26th September 1972 replaced the 1903 Scheme and introduced a second major category of benefit, relief in need.
Policy: The first objective, the provision of pensions, is currently being met by other charities sharing administration and trusteeship with the Charity. The policy of the Trustee is therefore to provide grants to meet the objective of relief in need. This covers a wide variety of activities, with a view to improving the quality of life of those disadvantaged by poverty, ill health or disability, or enabling them to take advantage of opportunities which might otherwise not be practicable.
The Trustee does not invite unsolicited appeals for charitable assistance from the Charity
