Objects: The advancement of education by the provision of awards for exchange postgraduate students between the College of William and Mary in Virginia USA and UK Universities.
Origin: The Drapers Company, having for many years provided financial support for an exchange of students between the College of William & Mary, Virginia USA and Queen Mary, University of London, gave the sum of £200,000 to endow the Charity in 1992.
Policy: The Charity provides a grant to a UK University or other higher educational establishment to enable a postgraduate student from William & Mary College, Virginia to study in the UK. So far the students have pursued postgraduate degree courses in Law at Queen Mary, University of London.
The American student is selected by the College of William & Mary, Virginia. Queen Mary University of London nominates a student to study in Virginia, funded on a reciprocal basis by the American College.
