The Almshouse Trusts

Edmanson’s Close, Tottenham

The Estate
Edmanson’s Close was built in Bruce Grove, Tottenham in 1870 ‘for the poor, elderly people of Tottenham and Bow’. The Almshouses are surrounded by picturesque gardens.

The Estate consists of 48 studios, two one-bedroom flats and 10 two-bedroom flats, all of which are self-contained.

Facilities for residents include a Community Hall for social activities, a Chapel and a laundry. A guest room for the use of family and friends of residents is also available. There is an active social club, organised by the residents, providing a range of activities and outings.

Eligibility
You can apply to live at Edmanson’s Close if you are nearing or over retirement age, and are currently resident in the London Borough of Haringey, or the Bow district of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, or if you have strong family ties or social reasons for wanting to move here. Preference is also given to widows of Freemen of the Drapers’ Company.

The Almshouse is a Charitable Trust and applicants will be asked to provide details of their financial circumstances to demonstrate their need for such accommodation.
