Queen Elizabeths College, Greenwich
The Estate
Queen Elizabeths College was built on Greenwich High Road, for the poor elderly people of Greenwich in 1818. It provides 40 self-contained one-bedroom cottages.
Also on the estate is Lambard House, built in 1967, which consists of 28 self-contained flats, eight of which have a second bedroom.
The Almshouses are set in pleasant landscaped gardens. Facilities include a Community Hall for social activities, a Chapel and a laundry. There is an active social club, organised by the residents, providing a range of activities and outings.
Eligibility
You can apply to live in the Almshouses if you are nearing or over retirement age and currently reside in the London Boroughs of Greenwich or Lewisham. The Almshouse is a Charitable Trust and applicants will be asked to provide details of their financial circumstances to demonstrate their need for such accommodation.
